Stage School Australia is thrilled to announce auditions for its January 2027 production of Disney's Newsies JR., based on the Broadway musical renowned for high-energy choreography, a powerful story, and electrifying ensemble numbers.
Auditions are open to young performers aged 12-19 years. Auditionees must be available for all required commitments. Details outlined in the audition notice below.

About Newsies JR
Set in New York City in 1899, Newsies JR. follows a spirited group of young newspaper sellers who unite against publisher Joseph Pulitzer and fight for a better future. Inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike, the show brings its story of courage, solidarity and determination to life through favourite numbers including 'Seize the Day', 'King of New York' and 'Santa Fe'.
After making its Broadway debut in 2012, the musical became a hit, playing more than 1,000 performances and winning two Tony Awards.
Featuring music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by Harvey Fierstein, the production gives young performers the opportunity to develop their dance, singing and acting skills while working as part of a full-scale theatrical production.

Casting Notice
This production is searching for performers aged 12 to 19 years who are ready to take on demanding choreography and perform as part of a bold, fast-moving ensemble. The audition process is designed to recognise both dance and vocal ability.
We are looking to cast an ensemble of Newsies who represent a diverse range of genders, backgrounds and identities. The Newsies are a high-energy group of young people, and every role will be cast inclusively. We especially want to hear from technically strong dancers with training in styles such as jazz, ballet or acrobatics.
