What will my child be learning?
Throughout the day, students will explore a range of exciting drama techniques and script-based activities, including:
Improvisation – Build confidence, creativity and quick-thinking skills through fun drama games and spontaneous performance exercises.
Monologues – Learn how to bring a character to life through individual script work and performance.
Scene Work – Collaborate with others to rehearse and perform scripted scenes while developing storytelling and acting techniques.
Voice – Explore vocal projection, articulation and expression to help performances feel confident and engaging.
Movement – Develop body awareness, stage presence and physical storytelling through movement-based activities.
Puppetry – Discover the art of puppetry through creative character play and hands-on performance activities.
What is the skill level required to participate?
Suitable for beginner to intermediate performers.
Classes will be split by age groups.
Perfect for students looking to refine their skills and learn new techniques in a fun and supportive environment.
Who will be teaching this workshop?
Workshops will be led by a series of Stage School dance teachers and industry guest artists.
During the April Workshops, students worked with many industry guests including Yashith Fernando (Alejandro in MJ the Musical, François in &Juliet).
Is the Drama Workshop content the same across the different locations?
Yes — the Drama Workshop follows a structured curriculum and will be consistent across all locations. Some activities may vary slightly depending on the teacher leading each session.
Do you need to be a Stage School student to participate?
Nope - we’re open to all young performers!
Current Stage School students are highly encouraged to participate, as workshop content differs from our regular weekly classes and offers the chance to work on new scripts with different people.
Will there be breaks & should we pack food?
Yes - students will have multiple short breaks throughout the day, including a 30-minute lunch break. Please ensure students bring enough food and water to keep them fuelled for a big day of Drama!
