YABC: In-School Performances 2019

Stage School Australia is proud to announce its brand new initiative for 2019, a season of in-school performances for young people.

Over more than two decades, we’ve taken in-school performances to schools in Adelaide and the Northern Territory (Australia), Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Orlando, (USA) London, Oxford, Brighton (UK), Paris and Fontainbleau (France), Hamburg, Berlin and Dresden (Germany), Rome and Padua (Italy) and Athens (Greece).  We’ve also mounted in-theatre seasons of shows as diverse as Wicked, Spring Awakening, Babe, The Secret Garden, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Alice in Wonderland and Spring Awakening.

In 2019 we’re assembling a group of talented performers to form a repertory company as part of their training, visiting schools and performing a range of plays and musicals for young audiences.

Performances are offered at affordable rates, to cover the payment of royalties and a small contribution to production costs.  We’re sure you’ll decide that these shows represent incredible value for your students.

All performances require a large space, and are most suitable for schools with access to a large multi-purpose area, hall or theatre space.

2019 Shows for Young Audiences Season

Seussical

A one hour adaptation  of the original Broadway musical based on the works of Dr Seuss. Enjoy the Cat in the Hat, Jojo, Horton, Mayzie La Bird, Gertrude and more, along with fabulous songs.

 

Age suitability: Primary Grades 3-6, Secondary Years 7-8

Length: 65 mins approx. plus optional 10 minute talkback

Audience size: up to 150

Price: $500 + GST

Additional show same day/venue: $450 + GST

 

Venue suitability – Hall or Theatre

Performing space approx. 8 metres wide by 6 metres deep.

Performances subject to rights approval for your school – so get your expressions of interest in early for this show.

Chicken Licken

A 45 minute pantomime for young children, this is a fantastic introduction to live theatre which played successfully at MTC’s Southbank Theatre and the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

 

Age suitability: Primary Grades K-4

Length: 45 mins approx. plus optional 10 minute talkback

Audience size: up to 150

Price: $250 + GST

A Midsummer Night's Dream

A 60 minute adaptation of Shakespeare’s most accessible comedy.  Fairies and humans collide in a fun and fast-paced show.  A great introduction to the magic of Shakespeare, with all the main action, and the poetry liberally and accessibly sprinkled throughout.

 

Age suitability: Primary Grades 5-6, Secondary Years 7-10

Length: 60 mins approx. plus optional 10 minute talkback

Audience size: up to 150

Price: $300 + GST

Hating Alison Ashley

An acclaimed adaptation of Robin Klein’s classic children’s novel, Hating Alison Ashley - The Play features all of your favourite characters from the book, along with a few twists.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change

This long-running off-Broadway hit revue uses a series of songs and sketches to take a humorous look at modern relationships.

The Conference of the Birds

In a highly theatrical adaptation of Farid ud-Din Attar’s poem, storytelling, movement, music combine to riveting effect.  This production has successfully played the Malthouse Theatre, Chapel off Chapel and the Adelaide Fringe Festival, where school audiences thrilled to the piece.

 

Age suitability: Secondary Years 7-12

Length: 60 mins approx. + Talkback (Matinees only)
