About The Show

Take a journey out of the zoo and onto the stage with your favourite crack-a-lackin’ friends from the blockbuster DreamWorks film.

Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto your stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime. Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. follows all of your favourite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an upbeat score, Madagascar JR. will leave audiences with no choice but to “Move It, Move It!”

The audience has spoken! YABC’s production of Madagascar - A Musical Adventure JR is a hit! Great fun for the whole family AND you take to take snaps of yourselves and the kids with Alex, Marty, Gloria and wacky King Julien after the daytime shows. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, Move It! Move It!

Opening day has arrived! Jackson Hurwood (Alex) and Aidan Khan (Marty) talk about how their characters’ friendship in Madagascar resembles their real lives. And we are treated to one of Jackson and Aidan’s famous raps.

The costume designer of Madagascar JR, Jennifer McKenzie, talks us through her creative thoughts and the process of making the costume for Melman the giraffe. We also speak to actor Declan Ahern, who is playing Melman and is also a circus performer.

Gloria (Kristen Robertson) and King Julien (Adam Forgione) are let us in on the first days of rehearsal and, since they are Victorian Youth Theatre students, crashing in on this Young Australian Broadway Chorus production. Plus! Due to popular demand and sold out shows, a new show has been released!
