Frequently Asked Questions
What will my child be learning over the 2 days?
Students will explore every stage of the audition process, including:
Day 1 - Audition Preparation
- Acting Masterclass
- Acting through Song
- Dance Audition Technique
- Audition Room Etiquette
Day 2 - Mock Audition Day
- Dance Call
- Singing Audition Round

- Callback Round
- Industry Q&A
What is a mock audition?
The mock audition experience recreates a professional audition environment. Students will practise introducing themselves, performing material, responding to direction and navigating callback-style situations while receiving constructive feedback from industry professionals.
Is there anything to prepare?
Upon booking, students will receive a musical audition brief. This will be used as a mock scenario, and students will be required to prepare an audition song based on the brief.
What is the skill level required to participate?
Suitable for intermediate to advanced performers looking to build their confidence walking into an audition room.
Do students need audition experience to participate?
No. While the program caters to motivated performers, students do not need extensive audition experience. Whether preparing for future opportunities or refining existing skills, students will benefit from the practical audition training and personalised feedback provided throughout the 2 days.
Do you need to be a Stage School student to participate?
Nope - we’re open to all young performers!
Current Stage School students are highly encouraged to participate, as workshop content differs from our regular weekly classes and offers the chance to learn new routines, styles, and techniques.
Who will be teaching this workshop?
Workshops will be led by a series of Stage School teachers and industry guest artists.
During the April and July Workshops, students worked with many industry guests including Courtney Monsma (Glinda in Wicked, Anna in Frozen, and Howard in SIX), Aimee Jones (CATS, Heathers), and Liam Head (Fiyero in Wicked, Better Man Movie, Nick in Jagged Little Pill)
Will there be breaks & should we pack food?
Yes - students will have multiple short breaks throughout the day, including a 30-minute lunch break. Please ensure students bring enough food and water to keep them fuelled for a big day of dancing!
