Community & Philanthropy

We are very proud to support children's charities both financially and by providing entertainment at fundraising events like Starlight's Starball, the Starlight Five Chef's Dinner, appearances in the Starlight Room at the Royal Children's HospitalLife Education Gala and the Monash Children's Hospital Dandelion Wishes Gala to name just a few.

Our key charity partners are:

STARLIGHT CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION
Over the past 14 years, Stage School Australia has donated in excess of $35,000 to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.  A portion of every programme sold during our semester seasons at the Union and National Theatres is donated to Starlight to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children. Starlight’s programs include the high-tech interactive Starlight Express Rooms found in major paediatric hospitals; Starlight Fun Centres are mobile entertainment units which can be wheeled to a child’s bedside; the Starlight Express vans visit regional hospitals across the country; plus Starlight wish-granting which involves the whole family and is something for them to remember forever. Together we can help put a smile on the face of a seriously ill child.

LILLY ROBYN FOUNDATION
A portion of every programme sold during our semester seasons at the Union and National Theatres is donated to The Lilly Robyn Foundation. The Lilly Robyn Foundation (an Ancillary Trust Fund) was set up to raise money to distribute to organisations already doing great work providing support, undertaking research and promoting awareness of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA Type 1). Lilly Robyn Conlan was born on August 20th 2008. At six weeks old, Lilly was diagnosed with SMA. Sadly, Lilly passed away at six months of age. SMA is a degenerative disease that affects one in 6000 babies. There is no cure for SMA, it is always fatal and most children die before their first birthday. SMA is a genetic disease with one in 30 people carrying the SMA causing gene. SMA is the number one genetic killer of children under the age of two.
